Our Mission

Our mission: To visit all 55 piers around England and Wales in under 3 weeks......

Wednesday 29 July 2015

And on the 9th day they rested

Today we had a rest from the piers and after picking my dad up from Portsmouth station headed to Glorious Goodwood for a day at the races.

We had a great day but lady luck wasn't shining on us as we all lost our money.

There is a system when you go racing that you back the horse from the first horsebox you see on the way to the track. Yesterday that was Clive Cox's horsebox and a horse called Perfect Muse who was anything but perfect as it finished last.

When my Dad came up on the train he was allocated seat B52 and by some amazing coincidence there was a horse running called B Fifty Two. If that wasn't an omen I don't know what is. As it turned out I don't actually know what an omen is as it finished 11th

The biggest bet of the day was on a horse called Dyllan in the 4.55. Another coincidence bet that lost. I really should know better. If only we'd called our son Ridge Ranger we'd have had a 14/1 winner. Oh well, you live and learn.

It's back to Piers on Wednesday.
